Cult singer/songwriter and visual artist Daniel Johnston, passed away on September 11th. The praised visionary, reinvented the folk music genre with his eccentric approach to performing and songwriting, paving the way for a legion of oddball musicians. His work has inspired countless other misfits including, Kurt Cobain, Tom Waits and Beck. Johnston lived an interesting yet tragic life as depicted in the critically acclaimed documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston.
